TRAVELING TO / FROM MEXICO CITY TO SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE

San Miguel de Allende is approximately 4-hours by bus from Mexico City. It is essential to book the correct bus service (we learnt this the hard way!). We highly recommend the ETN bus provider, use this website to book your transportation between San Miguel de Allende and Mexico City or any other major city.

It seems tickets become available approximately 3-4 months before departure date, so check in around November/December if you'd like to pre-book tickets.

TRAVELING TO AND FROM CASA ADELA

UBER

We would recommend taking an uber to the venue. Please note, Ubers can take you from central San Miguel de Allende to Casa Adela, but cannot take you from Casa Adela back to the town centre.

TAXI

Look for green and white taxis with the number printed in red on the back, and check for a displayed license on the dash. Always confirm pricing before getting in to a Taxi to avoid overcharging but generally the green taxi's are safe and very affordable.

The entrance to the villa is here. The 1km driveway is located directly across from a red and white radio tower, off Route 51 San Miguel - Dolores Hidalgo highway. Continue driving along the gravel road until you reach the top of the hill.

SHUTTLES

We are providing our guests with shuttle transportation from the venue for both the Wedding Ceremony/Reception on the 7th of February and the Day After Celebration on the 8th of February back in to central San Miguel de Allende. Shuttles will depart from Casa Adela at various intervals until 1.00am on the 7th and 6.00pm on the 8th.

TRAVEL TIPS

TIPPING

Tipping is customary and appreciated in Mexico. In restaurants, a tip of 15-20% is standard, and you can tip in either USD or pesos. For smaller services like taxis or cafes, rounding up or adding a small amount in pesos is also appreciated.

WATER SAFETY

It's best to drink bottled water during your stay. Avoid ice unless you are certain it is made from purified water.

TRANSPORTATION AROUND SAN MIGUEL
Taxis, Ubers, and other rideshare services are readily available and generally safe to use. Agree on fares beforehand when using taxis to avoid confusion.

TO & FROM THE AIRPORT
See "Airport Shuttle Services" section above for details.

COMFORTABLE SHOES FOR WALKING

San Miguel is a highly walkable city and most people prefer to walk everywhere. Part of it’s charm includes its cobblestone streets which, while beautiful, can be tricky to navigate—especially if you don't have the right shoes. We highly recommend wearing tennis shoes or sneakers for comfort as you explore. Flats and sandals may not provide enough support for the uneven surfaces.

SAFETY TIPS

San Miguel de Allende is known for being a very safe destination with little to no crime. However, as with any travel, exercise common sense.

Mexico City

ACCOMODATION

We recommend staying in either Condesa or Roma Norte as they are both safe and central neighbourhoods with amenities and good shopping close by.

Condesa Nido Parque Mexico - we booked through Airbnb (Serviced apartment in Mexico City). Very close to lots of bars, restaurants, quite a few shops, right next to a beautiful park.

Roma Norte is also a safe neighborhood, lots of good cafes, restaurants, beautiful streets but we personally preferred Condesa.
